Sitting Pretty
Traditional and Modern Upholstery
Furniture can be brought back to life.
Gone are the days when we throw things on the scrap heap and buy new without a thought.
A simple repair, a new look with fresh fabric, or a total rebuild will transform the classic frames you love too much to part with.
Founded in 2012, Sitting Pretty is based at the St Albans Upholstery Studio, a collective upholstery workshop serving Hertfordshire and North London.

Liz Alsop
The power of good furniture design to improve quality of life is at the heart of my work. Having inherited at a young age a set of Victorian dining chairs that were falling apart, I set to work to restore them. This ignited a life-long enthusiasm which slowly turned into a career. Our lives and environments are enriched by functional objects that have meaning and beauty, and I am reminded of this every time a customer leaves me with a unique and personal item that I have been able to bring to life.
In addition to the commissions I undertake, I enjoy passing on my skills to others and have taught upholstery at Wendy Shorter Interiors for the last 12 years. If you would like to pick up tools yourself, please have a look at the courses we offer at www.wendyshorterinteriors.com

The details are not the details.
They make the design.
